Tuesday - Picture Book #18

Tuesday
Author: David Wiesner
Caldecott Medal Winner
Publisher: Trumpet Club New York, 1992

Genre: Picture book
Themes: Imagination, night time, animals, magical
Primary Characters: Bullfrogs

Summary:
This is an adorable book about what happens at night.  Have you ever wondered what animals do after you're all tucked in bed?  Well, according to David Wiesner they fly around on lily pads and watch television.  Some even play tag and chase other animals.  This all happens on Tuesday, what happens next Tuesday night?

This story will be great for sequencing and retelling because while it is wordless, the pictures are arranged in comic squares allowing for an easy flowing direction.  Since the story is wordless, it can also be used to grow students' imagination by requiring them to create a story to go along with the pictures.  The possibilities are endless with this book that doesn't even have words.
