Summary:
Have you ever moved before? Have you ever have to leave behind a neighborhood full of family and friends. These two children count down the days before the movers get them on the “leaving morning”. They talk of the boxes of stuff and telling friends good-bye. They also talk about telling family good-bye and staying with them for hours. When the “leaving morning” finally arises, the children are sad but their Daddy comforts them and tells them they’ll love their new place just as much. This is a sweet story that can used to express feelings of moving. Some children may be able to relate to the emotions that these two children are feeling. I would use this if I had someone in my class about to move. It would show them that they are not the only ones to move and be sad. Then we would talk about how much we are going to miss them and remind them that they are loved.
